Newsletter: All the Updates from Berea, and the Bo Nix Deep Passing Debate
All the organization’s updates for Week 13, and some thoughts on what the Broncos’ young quarterback brings to the table.
Come back from the best meal of your life and hopefully time spent well with family. I genuinely hope it was as great a holiday as you could have hoped for. I know ours was full good food, good laughter, and quality time spent unplugging for reality. It was also a joy to watch the Bears pull that public time mismanagement stunt as I know we can relate to situations like that one all too well.
It’s a jam-packed slate of football on the college and NFL level the next two days and the Browns are just now starting to get prepped for their trip to Denver on Monday Night Football. We got some from Kevin Stefanski on the health of the roster in Berea today.
Signed DE Elerson Smith to the practice squad after clearing room for waiver claim James Houston
Cedric Tillman (concussion) will not practice again today for the second straight day.
Juan Thornhill (DNP Thursday) injured his calf on Monday. Doesn't know if he'll be ready for MNF, but he's trending in the right direction.
LT Germain Ifedi (biceps) should be good by Monday. Was limited in practice Thursday.
T Jedrick Wills Jr. (knee) not practicing today but Stefanski didn’t rule him out for Monday just yet.
Jerry Jeudy spoke to the media and noted that he requested a trade from Denver due to their inability to properly use him. He felt a prisoner of a new coaching staff and immense changes. The Browns are happy with their move for the Alabama-product.
The coordinators also spoke where Ken Dorsey noted that Jeudy has been surprising in many good ways. He also mentioned specifically how smart he is on the field, his run after catch ability, and ability to beat press man coverage as what is making him stand out. Jeudy is on pace for career marks across the board.
Dorsey also mentioned Jameis Winston’s progress through four starts is improving. “He's getting more and more comfortable operating the offense, more and more comfortable with the guys around him.” All good signs for an improving Browns offense.
We will keep you posted on all things out of Berea in the coming days.
Bo Nix is certainly a topic worth our focus. As we think the Browns are going to be in the market for a rookie quarterback whether this year or the next, keying in on how well you can get a rookie to perform despite not having the top selection is always worth studying. Nix is fascinating. He struggled out of the gate but he’s caught fire and is now the first rookie to win the Rookie of the Week award three straight weeks.
